The Ravisloe country club was founded in 1901 on the site of the Briggs farm by predominantly Jewish members of Chicago’s Standard Club after the first property choice belonged to a Dutchman named Ravisloot. Ravislow was chosen as the name by the membership, who eventually settled on Ravisloe. George Nimmons, the same architect who designed Olympia Fields’ clubhouse, designed the Spanish Mission-styled clubhouse in 1902.
