A Little Known Fact About Robbins, IL:

Robbins, IL is the sixth oldest African-American community in the U.S. It was founded in 1892 by former slaves and descendants of slaves when a group of mulatto families found affordable and spacious farmland, southwest of Chicago, to avoid racial tensions within the city’s borders. They later incorporated it in the State of Illinois and named it Robbins, IL on December 14,1917.
